A Hello from the inside.
You can not only feel your baby’s kick or hear the tiny heartbeat, you can now see your baby’s face even before you can hold him. It is amazing what technology is capable of and it surprises us every day. Here’s one of the most beautiful surprises in your journey towards becoming a parent. A beautiful picture of your unborn baby to go into your baby album. And it’s brought upon by 3D Ultrasound which A4 is bringing it closer to you.
What does it do?
3D Ultrasound uses sound waves to display the unborn baby’s image. It provides a lucid and sharp image paving way to look at the baby’s tissues, organs and the anatomy. 3D Ultrasound helps in diagnosing birth defects in the womb itself and the appropriate treatment is done at the earliest. It can detect cleft lip, cleft palate and other craniofacial abnormalities. It also shows neural tube defects like spina bifida and skeletal malformations.
How is it done?
The doctor applies a gel on the stomach and moves a transducer along the stomach which directs the soundwaves into the uterus. This in turn leads to a photograph-like image of the unborn baby. It is advisable to get the ultrasound done by a qualified professional.
When is it done?
3D Ultrasound is done after the baby is fully formed. Mostly, it is done between 24 to 34 weeks when the picture of the developing baby can be captured well.
