It is very common that women even tend to consider it normal. To reduce back pain and avoid adverse events like disc prolapse, it is highly important to follow best postures throughout the day.
Named after its creator Frederick Matthias Alexander, the Alexander Technique is a popular type of Alternative therapy. The basic idea is that poor posture gives rise to a range of health issues.
Alexander developed these principles in the 1890s and in the late 2000s, it is suggested that these techniques may be helpful for long-term back pain, neck pain and might even help with Parkinson’s disease.
This technique focuses on practicing mindful sitting, standing, breathing and even resting. Our daily habits have to be a little modified to make our muscles strain less. This can be achieved through consistent practice.
During pregnancy and post child birth, proper sitting and standing postures are critical to avoid disc bulge and disc prolapse.
These condition are very common in this time due to poor muscle tone. But it doesn’t always have to be this way. Healthy habits save you a lot of trouble.
During pregnancy, while adapting guided techniques like relaxing or resting on the floor, it is important not to lay on your back for more than 5 minutes after your 5th month.
Laying on your back for a long time may reduce blood flow to the heart and to the baby, and hence it’s always better to avoid that.
Alexander Technique, along with Yoga, Physiotherapy and simple Exercises might help result in normal deliveries, reducing back pain.
