IUI also called as Intrauterine insemination is an important procedure used for treating the patients who are infertile. This type of treatment involves placing sperm into a woman’s uterus.

This is done directly through a cervix. Intrauterine Insemination is a type of an artificial insemination which is a procedure for treating infertility.

The sperm is concentrated and the concentrated sperm is placed directly in a female’s uterus during the time when the ovary releases the eggs to be fertilized into the fallopian tube.

The outcome of Intrauterine insemination is the condition where the sperm can easily swim into the fallopian tube and fertilize the egg. This results in pregnancy.

IUI is suitable in the case of males having low sperm motility rates. By using IUI, the sperm can be directly extracted and hence the motility rate of the sperm is not of concern.

IVF is also called as In Vitro Fertilization where the sperm and the egg are taken out and fertilized in a lab. The resulting zygote is placed in the woman’s womb for further growth.

IVF is recommended when multiple IUI have failed. In many cases, IVF is done when there’s irreversible male and female factor like low sperm count or blocked fallopian tube.

Multiple miscarriages also suggests the use of IVF. The success rate of IVF depends on your age, previous successful pregnancy, ovarian reserve and causes of infertility.
