There’s an old saying that goes like, “Lies spread faster than truth.” Yes, that’s how myths are generally spread out into the open world.
Whereas in the case of fertility, myths are generally spread through silent whispers. Debunking these myths on fertility is very important as it is a matter of life. Now let us see some of the common myths and their reality.
To be completely plain, its just common sense. For conception, both male and female should be in good reproductive health. Hence it is always a 50-50 probability of both genders to have some kind of shortcoming. Its big-time people stop complaining that infertility is predominantly a women’s problem.
It is entirely natural a man can ejaculate frequently. It doesn’t mean he is in pristine sexual health. An ejaculating man can have a low sperm count, less motile sperm, abnormal sperm shape, etc. It is essential for some men to accept the fact that all are humans and anyone can have medical issues.
It is true that fertility starts to fade off in women after the age of 35. But it doesn’t mean that they cannot get pregnant. Natural conception is entirely possible in most cases or else there is an option of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) like IVF.
Drinking and smoking definitely affect fertility in more than one way. For men, smoking leads to low sperm count and immotile sperm. For women, it will lead to a faster decline in ovarian reserve.
Apart from the above, there are many myths upcoming day by day. Since Infertility is a tricky topic to understand, these myths stay for a long period of time. It is advised to consult a fertility consultant in case of any doubts.
